"Get it appraised by someone in the "biz" that the agency recognizes as an authority" and write the policy for the appraised amount. It will cost more, obviously, but if you find someone who can appreciate the mods/stereo/ whatever, then it's worth the piece of mind that you won't be totally screwed if you have a loss of any of those components, or worse, the whole enchilada. My current insurance on the Riv is through a collector's only company that does limit the amount and "kind" of miles you can "legally" drive. The premium is less than $100/year for full coverage and $250 deductible. Maybe you guys who don't use it as a DD can get something like that...
